Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary
Stay and volunteer
Boon Lott's Elephant Sanctuary (BLES), is a true elephant sanctuary, located in the forest of rural Sukhothai, northern Thailand. They currently home twelve elephants and a growing menagerie of other animals who were all saved from abuse and cruelty.
BLES offers a unique and intimate experience. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed as one of the family. BLES limits guest numbers to eight people, which maintains a peaceful and respectful energy so the animals feel safe and free to be themselves.
Every day at BLES is an adventure and differs from the next. Days are spent relaxing in the world-famous BLES tree houses and watching the elephants graze and wander across 750 acres of protected land.
BLES has a hands-off experience, meaning there is no feeding, bathing or approaching the elephants. This might sound extreme to some, but once you immerse yourself in the rich mahout/elephant culture at BLES, you will understand why it is so important to give these incredible beings space.
All staff at BLES are from the local community, so you will have an authentic and genuine cultural exchange.
BLES typically books up 20 months in advance and does not allow day only or drop-in visits, so make sure you book your unforgettable stay here ASAP!
