Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary
Become a Volunteer or a Short Stay Guest
Kindred Spirit Elephant Sanctuary (KSES) work alongside the elephant owners, the community and other organisations to try and bring a brighter future for their and all other captive elephants.
Situated in the heart of the forested mountains in Northern Thailand, the elephants really have a sense of belonging in their new home. The mountains are home to Karen hill tribe communities and visitors will get the chance to live as a local during a home stay.*
Visitors can stay for 2 days or volunteer from 1 week to 3 months. Volunteers can participate in project work or local activities such as teaching English or conservation to the local children.
Days are spent locating and following the elephants in the forest, learning about their natural behaviours and watching as they become accustomed to the forest after gruelling lives as entertainers.
Bear in mind that viewing elephants in the forest often means you'll get better views of tress and elephant bums than the whole being! But this is a good thing: elephants spend most their time foraging in dense grasses/forest, this means they are relaxed and happy.
* Living with a Karen hill tribe is pretty darn cool, they have a unique culture which is guaranteed to WOW you!
